Best meal ever...

We used to play this game back in the Daisy House days about favorite foods. Basically you are given an empty plate and you can fill it with one entree, two sides, a drink and a dessert... But that's the only meal you can have for dinner every day for the rest of your life.

If calories don't matter, I choose:
Entree: Mac and Cheese pizza with chicken from CiCi's
Side dish one: Olive Garden Ceasar salad
Side dish two: Homemade Sweet potato Fries with ranch dip
Dessert: Chocolate chip cookies
Drink: Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino

What would you choose??

  2. K--I've been thinking about this one...and I added an appetizer :-)

    Appetizer: Calamari from Chester's Chophouse
    Entree: Chicken cordon bleu
    Side Dish one: mashed potatoes
Side dish two: Green beans with sand
Dessert: red velvet cake with chocolate chips
Drink: Don't know if I could narrow down just one drink, but with this meal, it would be Museum wine.

    Good blog thought!

  3. I think part of the pleasure at enjoying a terrific meal is context. Across time (my lifetime), Thanksgiving meals would soar to the top. The turkey might have been a little dry one year, the rolls not warm enough another year, but the context of family being together overrides these variances by far. I'll take my noisy, opinionated, dysfunctional family eating turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, etc., any day for a rollicking good time. Yes, it can sometimes be contentious, sometimes the wrong things are said, sometimes feelings get hurt, everyone talks at the same time and it's generally mass chaos. But still we're kin and I love it. When I think back over the years, it's easy to forget the bad things but easy to remember all the wonder of family history: waking up to the smell of turkey roasting in the oven, washing piles of dishes and somehow having fun while doing it, the sounds and camaraderie of kids visiting and laughing. Those memories last way longer than any meal.

For pure good food on a one-time basis it would be eating at Ruth Criss's with my super-hubby and eating the best fileg mignon ever and the most amazing potato chips imaginable. For appetizer, I love Macaroni Grill's bread when it's warm and toasty out of the oven with olive oil. It's great visiting food since you grab, tear, dip and
